Deskew fixes small tilt, not page orientation
Deskewing is for pages that lean by a few degrees because the paper entered a scanner or camera slightly crooked. A page that is sideways by 90 degrees is an orientation problem and should be rotated instead.
1into1 Deskew PDF is designed for fine correction between -10° and +10°, with a live first-page preview before you create the output.
Estimate the angle from the first-page preview
Choose the PDF and use Auto-Detect Tilt to estimate a correction from the rendered first page. The preview rotates immediately so you can see whether the text baseline looks level.
Auto-Detect currently evaluates the first-page preview rather than independently measuring every page. This works best when the scanner introduced a similar tilt throughout the document.
Fine-tune before applying the correction
If the automatic estimate is slightly off, adjust the angle manually in 0.2-degree steps. Use horizontal text lines, table rules or page edges as visual references.
Avoid over-correcting. The goal is to make the document level, not to rotate a page more than necessary.
Check several pages after straightening
The selected angle is applied across the PDF, so reopen the result and inspect pages from the beginning, middle and end of the document.
If different pages lean in different directions, one document-wide angle may not be appropriate. In that case, separate the affected pages or use a workflow that supports page-by-page correction.
Keep the original until the output is verified
For ordinary unprotected PDFs, 1into1 can apply the correction to existing page content without intentionally re-encoding the normal vector/text content. More complex files may require a compatibility path.
Keep the original scan separately until you have checked page edges, text, images and any important document details in the straightened copy.
