The interactive tool loads in your browser.
How to remove a known PDF password locally
Unlock a PDF when you already know the current password. The file is authenticated locally, each decrypted page is rendered, and a fresh unencrypted image-based PDF is created for download.
- Choose the password-protected PDF.
- Enter the current document password.
- Run Unlock & Remove Password.
- Download the unlocked copy.
- Reopen the result and verify every page before deleting or replacing the protected original.
A practical example
If you own a protected statement and know its password, you can create an unlocked copy for a workflow that cannot process encrypted PDFs. Keep the original protected file separately until the rebuilt copy is verified.
Common questions
Can this unlock a PDF without knowing the password?
No. The current workflow requires the existing password. It is not a password-cracking tool.
What happens after the password is accepted?
The decrypted pages are rendered and rebuilt into a fresh unencrypted PDF rather than preserving the original encrypted object structure.
Will searchable or selectable text remain?
No. The rebuilt output uses JPEG-backed page images, so selectable text, OCR text layers, form fields and other interactive structures are not preserved as normal PDF objects.
Does it preserve the visible page appearance?
The tool renders every decrypted page at high resolution and places the rendered page image into the new PDF. Always inspect the result because rendering can differ from the original internal structure.
Is the PDF uploaded?
The unlock workflow runs locally in your browser.
Can I use this on a file I am not authorized to access?
Use the tool only for documents you own or are legally authorized to decrypt.
