How to create a permanent dark mode PDF

Create a downloadable dark-reading copy of a PDF instead of only changing the viewer interface. Choose OLED pitch black, classic RGB inversion or warm sepia, then keep the original file separately.

  1. Choose the PDF you want to convert.
  2. Select OLED Pitch Black, Classic Inversion or Warm Sepia.
  3. Check the first-page preview and switch modes if images or charts become difficult to read.
  4. Convert the document and download the new PDF.
  5. Reopen the result and verify text, images, diagrams and page order.

A practical example

A bright study PDF can be turned into an image-based dark-reading copy that stays dark when opened in another PDF viewer, while the original PDF remains unchanged.

Common questions

Is this just a viewer dark theme?

No. The tool renders and recolors the PDF pages, then builds a separate downloadable PDF from the transformed page images.

Will text remain selectable or searchable?

No. Dark Mode rebuilds each page as a JPEG-backed image page, so selectable or OCR text layers do not remain searchable in the converted copy. Keep the original when you need text selection.

What is the difference between the three modes?

Classic Inversion applies an RGB negative, OLED Pitch Black maps very bright areas to black and very dark areas to soft white while inverting mid-tones, and Warm Sepia applies a sepia colour transform.

Will photographs and charts keep their original colours?

No. The selected transform is applied to the rendered page, including images and charts, so inspect the preview and final output carefully.

Is the PDF uploaded for the conversion?

The transformation is performed locally in your browser.
