How to convert source code to a syntax-highlighted PDF

Paste source code or upload a text source file, then create an A4 or US Letter PDF locally with optional line numbers, dark or light styling and safe handling for long lines.

  1. Paste source code into the editor or upload a source file that can be read as text.
  2. Optionally set a header title such as main.py or query.sql.
  3. Choose Dark (Terminal) or Light (Print).
  4. Choose portrait or landscape, A4 or US Letter, and 7.5pt, 8.5pt or 10pt text.
  5. Keep line numbers enabled when you need stable references during review.
  6. Convert and inspect wrapped long lines, special characters and page breaks.

A practical example

A Python or JavaScript source file can be exported as a dark A4 PDF with line numbers. If individual lines are too wide, they are split into continuation chunks instead of being cut off at the right edge.

Common questions

Does the tool auto-detect the programming language?

No. The current highlighter is generic rather than a full language parser. It recognizes common keywords, strings, comments, numbers and function-like names across several coding styles.

Which code files can I upload?

The current file picker does not restrict extensions. The selected file must be readable as text; examples shown in the interface include .js, .ts, .py and .json.

Can I remove line numbers?

Yes. Line numbers are optional and enabled by default.

What font sizes are available?

The current controls offer 7.5pt Compact, 8.5pt Standard and 10pt Large.

What happens to tabs?

Tabs are expanded to four-space tab stops before layout so indentation stays predictable in the PDF.

What happens to very long code lines?

Long lines are split into safe chunks based on the available page width. The original source line number is shown on the first chunk only.

Is the PDF fully vector text?

Ordinary Latin/ASCII lines use vector text. Lines containing broader Unicode or backslashes can use a local raster fallback to preserve visible fidelity, so not every line is guaranteed to remain selectable.

Does the tool compile or run the code?

No. It formats source text for PDF output; it does not execute, compile or validate the program.

Is the source code uploaded?

The conversion runs locally in your browser.
