Viewer dark mode and a dark PDF are not the same thing
A PDF viewer can change its own interface or apply accessibility colours while leaving the PDF file itself unchanged. Adobe Acrobat, for example, offers display themes and a Replace Document Colors accessibility preference.
That is useful when you only need a different appearance on one device. It does not necessarily create a new PDF whose pages are permanently dark.
A permanent dark copy changes the rendered pages
1into1 Dark Mode renders each PDF page, applies the selected colour transformation and writes the transformed page back into a new PDF.
Because the recoloured pixels are part of the downloaded output, the dark appearance travels with that copy when it is opened in another normal PDF viewer.
Choose a mode before converting the whole document
OLED Pitch Black is designed around strong black backgrounds and soft light text, Classic Inversion creates an RGB negative, and Warm Sepia creates an amber-toned reading copy.
Use the first-page preview to see how the selected mode affects text, photographs, charts and coloured highlights before running the full conversion.
The converted copy becomes image-based
The dark-mode workflow renders each page and encodes the transformed result as a JPEG image inside a new PDF page. That means the output prioritizes the recoloured visual appearance rather than preserving selectable text or interactive PDF structure.
Keep the original PDF when you still need search, copy-and-paste, form fields, links or the untouched original colours.
Verify the final PDF before relying on it
Reopen the converted file and check several pages, especially pages containing photographs, coloured diagrams or light-on-light content.
A colour transform that works well for a mostly black-and-white study document may be less suitable for a photo-heavy report, so retain the original as the authoritative copy.
